Our firmware is open source

A frame that lives on your wall for years shouldn't be a black box.

So today we published the firmware that runs on every FlightPortrait, and the protocol it uses to fetch its next picture.

Here's what's now public:

• The firmware for the frame's board and its 13.3-inch colour e-ink panel.
• The protocol, the few requests the frame makes to get its next picture, documented in full.
• A reference server you can run yourself, so a frame can point at your own machine instead of ours.

Why? We want you to own your frame, not rent it.

With everything in the open, you can see exactly what the frame does, and doesn't do. It only ever asks for its next picture. Nothing reaches into your home through it.

It also means your frame doesn't depend on us to keep working. That's a promise we want to take further :)
